Around 90pc of iCracked’s tech recruits are sourced through social media. He explains how to find the diamonds in the rough.
1. Use a range of media
Use Facebook and Twitter to recruit customer-facing candidates, and LinkedIn for corporate hires.
Use appropriate methods: people expect LinkedIn conversations to be more formal than on Facebook. Also tap into more niche communities, such as GitHub for IT talent.
2. Target your content
Take advantage of the targeting tools that social media offer, to clearly define who you are looking for and reach them with relevant content.
A business looking to recruit tech talent in a certain area should engage with IT graduates from the local university.
3. Be honest
Make sure you portray the job and your company fairly. It will ensure your conversation with the candidate is honest and that there is no upset later.

4. Be representative of your brand
Use social channels to reinforce your brand identity so potential recruits buy into the business as a whole.
Give them a real flavour of what it’s like to work for your business.
5. Be consistent
Avoid having several people handling a recruitment conversation. Reassuring candidates means communicating with a consistent voice.
6. Look for common ground
Identify candidates with whom you have trusted contacts in common. Maybe they have worked well with a colleague you respect.
7. Engage with powerful influencers
Be sure to engage with key influencers in your field. If your fashion boutique gets a retweet from Mary Portas, say, her social communities are more likely to engage with your brand, making the firm an attractive prospect.
